So what is Raw Artist you say........
RAW:natural born artists is an independent arts organization, for artists, by artists.
We're an international community made up of creative individuals across the globe.
Our mission is to provide independent artists within the first 10 years of their career with the tools, resources and exposure needed to inspire and cultivate creativity.
We welcome all genres of art including independent film, fashion, music, visual art, performing art, hairstylists, makeup artists and more.
We encourage the creative success of the many visionaries and storytellers of our generation.
RAW currently operates in nearly 60 cities across the United States, Australia, Canada and, now London!

So I thought I had to be apart of this to feed my creative juices I guess you could say. I love hairdressing but something like this doesn't happen everyday! I wanted to be able to create wearable art and I think this is just the beginning.
So how it happened was I was on You tube and noticed a hairdressers video from RAW and looked it up on the web. I was then able to submit my profile on the Raw Artist web site and got the call!!!!
Tash from Raw Brisbane gave me all the information about becoming a Raw artist and asked me to be an artist for the Spectrum Show case on 11 Feb 2014. I was then given information on my team mates who also had profiles.
Cole Williams Make-up Artist and Tamara Leacock designer/director for Reciclagem clothing.
A Little about Cole Williams from his Raw Artist Profile-
My name is Cole Williams, and I am a 19 year old makeup artist from Brisbane. I recently graduated from the Australian Academy of Cinemagraphic Makeup. I love makeup because it can create so many different thing and be used to change peoples perceptions. I really love creating characters and with all the makeup looks I create I like to think of a back story explaining the design, giving it more depth.
A Little about Tamarak Leacock from Reciclagem from her Raw Artist Profile-
reciclaGEM, inspired by the Portuguese translation of "recycling," is a fashion art line created to re-envision a more unified and sustainable, bi-continental America. Alongside artesanal apparel, created from upcycled clothing donations, eco-fibers, and ink-jet printed custom photo-art fabrics, reciclaGEM also creates resin rings and laureates in continental and geometric shapes, featuring fair trade seeds as its gemstones. The project is also a blog, which highlights avant garde trends in eco, ethical and culturally inclusive fashion. More than just a fashion-art line, it's a movement to challenge notions of American consumption and show the power of fashion as a vehicle for social change. Tamara Leacock, the creator of reciclaGEM, is a graduate of Yale University and a participant in the Sustainable Design Entrepreneurship program at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and will be further developing this work as a graduate student of the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at NYU, creating a Masters Degree program around Community Development through the Stewardship of Ethical Design, beginning this upcoming September.

I have a passion for limiting the intake of chemicals using environmentally friendly alternatives to hair care and colouring so with Cole also being part of a vegan make-up campaign and Tamara's sustainable clothing concept I thought it was a match made in heaven!
So we had meetings (mostly via skype as Tamara was in America and visiting Melbourne), organised models, picked clothing pieces and developed our overall plan. We were ready and nervous!
So at 3pm on Friday 11th February we hit the ground running! Preparing our lovely models and setting up for a big day and night.
At 4.30pm we were ready for the models run through on the catwalk and Tamara explained the runway with our models being so helpful and accommodating!
From 5.00pm to about 8.30 it was all systems go. We were lucky enough to have time for a bite to eat and to check out the amazing venue set up with photography, jewelry artists, drawing and paint artists and musicians at Arena in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.
Our models were ready to go! As you can see from the crazy hairstyles I wasn't able to use fully organic products as I needed some heavy duty hold!
After 4 other groups before us showcasing things from surf wear to theatre head wear from a wig specialist it was out turn. Everyone had their specialties and was a great experience to be inspired by other artists.
The girls wait in the wings as we are lucky last and we are excited!
As the guest artists we also took the stage and our profiles and information were displayed on screens around the venue. And after a nerve racking walk........we did it!!!!!!!
We created some amazing concepts for fashion , make-up and hair artists to all show case their work but tie into a fantastic runway show.
Elizabeth had netting and her hair molded to form waves.
Louise's hair was supported by a large Styrofoam cone and is actuall mostly her own hair with some small clip in extensions.
Aesha has some clip in extensions for length and fullness and I sculted her hair to form waves and give texture like her dress.
Lisa's hair is a combination of basket weaves and twists to create height.
Amber had a combination of backcombing and knots to create an asymmetrical style.
Thank you to my awsome team mate and friend Hannah for being my assistant for the evening! Was a big event and big day and couldn't have done it with out her help!
Thank you again to all involved and if you want more information on anything you have seen follow the links or email me at sjcourtney@netspace.net.au
